Blackout Comms Heltec V4 Touchscreen Pair – Ready-to-Use 2-Device Off-Grid Mesh Texting & Tracking Set
Ready-to-use pair of handhelds for private, encrypted texting and location sharing over LoRa. No cell service, no internet, no phone apps required. Both devices arrive fully flashed with Blackout Comms firmware, tested, and configured together as a complete private cluster so you can start messaging immediately.
These are two Heltec V4 Expansion Kit (touchscreen) units in custom PETG cases (color options available). Each uses a touchscreen with an on-screen keyboard so they work like simple texting devices. Integrated GPS handles location sharing. Messages and positions stay on the devices and the mesh—nothing depends on a central service.
Key Features
- 2× Heltec V4 Expansion Kit with touchscreen and external antennas
- Custom PETG cases (forest green, black, beige, or pink) with belt clips
- Touchscreen with on-screen keyboard on each
- Integrated GPS for location sharing
- Screen-flash alerts
- Fully flashed with Blackout Comms firmware, tested, and pre-configured as a private cluster
How It Works
Devices talk directly when they are in radio range (near-instant delivery and confirmation). Out of direct range, the mesh routes the message and can hold it for up to 24 hours so it still arrives even if a device is powered off or temporarily out of reach. Everything is encrypted and digitally signed. Frequency hopping is handled automatically. The cluster stays private to the devices you onboard.
What’s Included
- 2 Blackout Comms Heltec V4 Touchscreen communicators
- Cluster License (covers both devices and lets you grow your private cluster)
- Pre-configured as a complete private cluster — ready to use out of the box
Practical Notes
- Works anywhere LoRa is legal in your region. Follow local radio rules.
- Support is direct from the developer (Altware Development / Blackout Comms). Setup videos, guides, and firmware updates are at chatters.io.
No monthly fees for the core mesh. The devices work fully offline. Optional cloud bridge features are available if you later want them, but they are not required.
This is the simplest way to get a working two-device Blackout Comms setup with Heltec V4 touchscreens.
